The Diocese of Anchorage is handling WYD coordination for all three Dioceses in the state of Alaska. Contact Fr. Thomas Weise from the Diocese of Juneau if you are from Juneau and have questions. To sign up, download the PDF brochure. It contains the pilgrimage itinerary, information on expenses, and a sign up form. Best advice? Sign up EARLY. It will take lots of hard work and fundraising, but as many others will confirm: it is worth it! And it CAN be done. So sign up right now.

What is World Youth Day?
World Youth Day is a great meeting of young people from all over the world gathered around the Vicar of Christ. It is one of the primary means by which the Church proclaims the message of Christ to young people.
Where has WYD been celebrated?
In Buenos Aires, with the attendance of one million young people; in Santiago de Compostela, with more than 500,000; in Czestochowa, with 1,600,000; in Denver, with 600,000; in Manila, with approximately 4 million; in Paris, with 1.2 million; in Rome, with 2 million; in Toronto, with 800,000; in Cologne, with 1.1 million; and in Sydney, with 400,000.
Who can participate in WYD?
If under 16 years old, youths must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All young people of good will from around the world are invited to World Youth Day: girls and boys of all religions who wish to share a few days of prayer, joy, and solidarity. In addition, the collaboration of many volunteers is necessary to ensure the success of World Youth Day.
