The
Month of Mary May is the "month which the piety of the faithful has especially
dedicated to Our Blessed Lady," and it is the occasion for a
"moving tribute of faith and love which Catholics in every part of the
world [pay] to the Queen of Heaven. During this month Christians. . . offer
up to Mary from their hearts an especially fervent and loving homage of
prayer and veneration. In this month, too, the benefits of God's mercy come
down to us from her throne in greater abundance" (Paul VI: Encyclical on
the Month of May, no. 1). "peaceful or blessed," not jocular
or happy; it was an adjective for heavenly serenity, not earthly mirth. |

The Lord’s Day It is important to our spiritual growth as Christian individuals and to
be true to our status as the Body of Christ that we worship together each
Sunday,
whether or not a priest or other minister is present. For this reason we have
distributed the Psalms and Canticles for Sunday booklets, to be used in
Sunday Celebrations in the Absence of a Priest. Below are the psalm cycle
selections that conform to the official prayer of the church, the Liturgy
of the Hours: 4 May (Ascension of the Lord)
begins Week III 11 May (Pentecost) use Week I 18 May (Trinity Sunday) use Week I 25 May (Corpus Christi) use Week I 1 June (9th Sunday of Ordinary
